As a little kid Jan Willem (AKA Colloid) was already intrigued by electronic sounds and in the nineties he started making music on trackers and switched over to explore hardware instruments in the early zeros. Mostly old second hand scrapped gear and circuit bending. Jan Willem performs improvised live sets with a big eurorack system. His music is hard to put in genres as he playes the modular as an expression of athmospheres where he sometimes searches for the boundaries of music and noise while minutes later you hear influences from hiphop, breakbeat and techno.
